Could see VAN doing that.
FLA and CAR pass.
You could prob get assets to take Reilly, or at least not give anything up.
Dont know if NSH still wants to sell, but that is a hefty price for Saros so I doubt they pass.

I compared the Petry deal to the Burns deal last year. Thought Petry would only waive to a contender and Carolina is the only contender with tons of cap space. That deal doesn’t hurt them and they’ve proven to be okay with trading for old guys on big deals like Burns and Pacioretty. If I had to add a 3rd on my end and get nothing back i would but Petry is still a solid player.

I also think Petry is good. I just think their top 4 RD are solid with Burns and Pesce. They could use that money elsewhere.

It’s a waste to go out and get some big money RHD just to play them at 3RD, when that same money could be used to address the Canes problems. And it does hurt them, maybe not this year, but next year when the cap crunch hits it will very much hurt them. Besides, the Canes didn’t want him when he was traded, so why would they want him now?
