They could either trade Demko as they had been rumored to be considering earlier this year, or they could rehab Markstrom's market value with his favorite goalie coach Ian Clark and then flip him down the line.

2023-24 is not a cap crunch year for the Canucks—so they would have a year to figure out which one to move.

I don't think Marky comes back here unless Demko is traded before this deal comes around.

Even then, I think this is a gross underpayment from Vancouver for both of those players. While they are old, they are elite talent. We're offering a struggling sorta winger, who is getting more assists than goals now. And the best n/60 player in the NHL. TANK COMMANDER TYLER MINORS.

Perhaps Calgary gets a new GM, looks at the amount of UFAs next year, and decides to do an aggressive rebuild. You'd need a Tank Commander to lead that effort.

Calgary has no use for a 33 year old 6 mil/yr defenseman who wouldn't even make the 3rd pairing.

Tanev makes sense for VAN, but the Canucks aren't taking back Markstrom, we don't need $11.5M tied up in goaltending.

Tanev for Boeser @20% retained. Without retention we don't want Boeser he's not worth 6.65 mil per year.
