This is realistic. I doubt youd need to retain on Hoffman and tbh it would be best for MTL to just bury him imo. Also Gurianov is more likely to get a 1 year deal imo.

yeah that was my second choice! i just feel like they've played him alot this season which felt like they were trying to showcase him so i feel like they will trade him even though it won't be a huge return.

hoffman deal defeats the purpose entirely by taking bacj\k a contract... We will retain salary on him but not take another contract back... we need roster positions for young players and if not we just send him to the minors

i was going to bury him anyway so i prefer having a third and carter's contract that will be buried then just burying hoffman

carter contract gets in the way of player development. This year way the year of rookie defenseman and next year is the year of rookie forwards so we want bryon and drouin and hoffman contracts all gone and probably armia wont make the team either. i think Belzile and Harvey and Pezetta have all passed armia so we send him down as no one will trade for that contract as it has 2 more years left on it.

i know... i agree... we can buy him out if it's such an issue. but hoffman has more value to the pens so we can trade him and get a third for something we would have done anyway! in this scenario i kept him as a 13th forward but we can easily burry him in the AHL or just buy him out.

yes hoffman can get bought out but better is to trade with salary retention so it only effects next years cap and not 2 years cap when we might need the space... hoffman is easily moveable at a reduce salary

they have the same contract length though.
