Spend to the Cap

Description
Yzerman will (probably not though) spend to the cap this season and will do so by signing a few UFA's and by taking a few larger contracts from teams in cap hell. This team NEEDS to take another step forward and needs to make a real push for a playoff spot. It is clear that they aren't a bottom feeder anymore so it is better to try and sneak into the playoffs then continually pick in the 10-16 range for another few years. There are a ton of prospects in the system and there will be another 3-5 players picked in the top 45 this year depending on trades. It is time to be truly competitive and to set this team up for a cup run in 3-4 years.

I would love to see a few more young guys make the team but I think Wallinder, Kasper, Mazur as well as all the other new signees spend the year in GR.

Still lots of cap flexibility with Perron, Forbort, Kubalik, Suter, contracts expiring at the end of the year. I think Chiraot will be dealt or bought out as well. It should leave around 20 million to extend Seider, Raymond, Berggren and Rasmussen. Holes will be filled by guys like Kasper, Wallinder, Mazur in 2024.

I get that is his value but when a team can offersheet him at 4.2 for a 2nd why would anyone give up significantly more than that? Could the Bruins match it without having to severely overpay to have another team take a cap dump off their hands?

Swayman offer sheet aside gets a bigger return. Suter isn't worth 3.5 million so unless he's back cheap no need there. Id love trouba but I'm not holding out hope there.

I decided to overpay Suter so that he would take a 1 year deal. I am assuming someone will give him 6 or 7 over 3 years.

Boston would match an offer sheet and take it on the chin elsewhere. Likely they'd have pretty bad depth in their bottom 6 forward group.
