They aren't retaining 3+ million dollars for multiple years for a late 2nd round pick. With the additional cap dump, it will cost you over a first round pick

If the Canucks were gonna get a good return for Boeser he woulda been traded a year ago. If the stars can move Suter then maybe they do the deal without retention but I doubt that happens
