Description
Ideas behind the trades for both teams:

1. Montreal gets a young starting goalie for their future and the present. Primeau doesn't seem to be the guy now for them in net. The Flyers get really good draft picks and Montembeault. Montembeault can be traded for more picks if the Flyers are willing to do so. Goalies normally don't demand massive returns, so I think a Debrincat like return is reasonably fair for Hart.

2. Montreal does Chicago a big favour by giving Chicago the Price contract. Price is LTIRetired now, so trading him won't be an issue. Chicago also does Montreal a favour by taking Hoffman, and gets a draft pick (and Montreal tends to find lots of hidden gems in late rounds too).

3. Montreal gets a pick for Edmundson. Waiting too long could run the risk of losing any value Edmundson has left. For the Penguins, they add a veteran defender (and they love their veterans). They could also put Edmundson with Petry which was quite good in Montreal.

Other notes:
Farrell and Struble should be the first guys called up if someone gets injured. Farrell I could see being a full time NHL guy after the deadline and Montreal sells off some guys, like Gurianov.

The one thing about this site is that some people are always gonna bash you for a take, especially if that take is wrong. Was i wrong about the Chicago trade? easily. it doesn't need to happen and Chicago can find other likely more effective ways of hitting the floor, and I overvalued the cap hit for Chicago. people overvalue their teams players all the time. those on here who typically bash people's takes never post their own, or get bashed for their takes when they do post them. Cause the reality is, ACGM is completely hypothetical, and while some ACGM's are more realistic/well thought out than others, there's always going to be someone mad about a trade or idea anyways.

Keep in mind most trades in reality leave both teams, fans unsatisfied. The fair trades usually have the worst discourse on here. The wacky ones that are civil are mostly homers taping themselves on the back

with the way trades work, not everyone is going to be pleased anyways, even if the trades are on the more logical end if the scale.

yea i’ve seen that, but the Homer deals drive me nuts, I’ll give my opinion on a fair deal but will be positive about it but the homer deals it’s hard not to bash them.

The easiest thing on here is to be negative. I almost always give props to ACGMs and challenge the terrible negative opinions which gets me in trouble as it slides into nonsense galore and false equivalencies. You cant argue with ppl that just argue to argue without a point at all. Just had a guy that said Montreal had no shot at getting Fantilli because the chances were low?! As opposed to the chances being high on getting Bedard with CBJ at 75% without the 1st pick at the end of the day. That is just trying to instigate.

I was joking, and there are always head scratchers and WTF in trades. like that Jeannot deal, even the Homers on here wouldn’t have asked that much for him! lol

Saad for Zadorov. I literally saw that exact ACGM days previous to the deal and the author was flamed hard by Hawks fans. Was it fair no but it wasnt preposterous and it happened because of that whole belief in grit, size, intangibles which is the same reason ppl here don't get the Chiarot hype. I think there are two different thought processes here.

Ppl want to trade between themselves and others like to predict what will happen. That is a massive disconnect.

What jfresh would do and Julien Brisebois in a scenario are massive. And who really cares what jfresh thinks lmao

lol what! to be fair Montreal's chances of a top 3 pick are slim (about 8% for the 1st or 2nd each).
but i had a Detroit fan argue Vrana was an “Elite sniper” and worth a 1st plus! you know before he got traded 50% retained for the rights to an AHL guy and a 7th lol

Exactly why as I said i never put Fantilli, Bedard or Michkov in an ACGM. It just leads to arguments over nothing. Ppl are kinda predictable, sometimes, here. It's tough NOT to do a little trolling with the lack of self awareness. I will make mistakes on purpose like putting Anderson the 30 goal scorer in the title just to trigger and it works lmao

On a completely separate note, I know Draisatle and McDavid spoke to Karlsson at the all star game and are pushing to get him to the Oilers, do you think there is a possibility in the offseason? sharks would probably cap the retention at 3 mil. what do you think is reasonable from your guys side?
my thought was
Karlsson 3 mil retained
for
Bouchard
Campbell
Foegel
24 1st
23 2nd

you guys dump a bad goalie contract and Karlsson easily replaced Bouchard who would have needed a solid raise anyways (I assume his next deal is 3 year 3.35 mil bridge deal)

That offer is decent but a ton of risk for the Oilers and little for the Sharks. I dont see how the Oilers fit that salary. They are a dollar in for dollar out team and they need the Sharks to take on more salary to even have a convo. Have you tried doing an Oilers ACGM with EK65? it's something to make that salary work. They still need to add more if they dump Bouchard and Foegele. The salary works but now they have no depth at all. They'll need EK65 and some ELC contracts to come as Holloway/Bourgault still arent ready

Lets just be optimistic. Say the cap even goes up 4 million. That deal leaves them with 10 million cap space with a roster of 15. I much rather sign Bouchard cheaply and fill out their wings and bottom 6 with decent role players and a legitimate backup goalie. EK65 simply is a luxury they cant afford.

Campbell 5mil
Foegele 2.75 mil
bouchard 3.35mil

Karlsson 8.5 with retention actually free’s up 2.6 mil.
not sure who the Oilers would want to add from the sharks. but Foegele replacement should cost them about 1-1.5 mil and a backup Goalie Like say Stalock should cost about the same sooo

Karlsson + Stalock + Svechnikov
vs
Bouchard + Campbell + Foegele

The big questions is if the first option improves the team enough to justify the 1st and the 2nd.

That is the thing, they can pay a 1st and 2nd instead to dump Campbell or Ceci and fill out their roster better. Throwing away high draft picks is the same as throwing away ELC contracts. They need those picks as currency to flesh out the roster. Karlsson doesnt address their issues.

except they are in win now mode and Karlsson does provide at least a few years of elite offense from the D and when you 2 best players are pushing for a guy you kind of listen.

I was saying that exact thing with Chychrun. You're preaching to the choir except the cap hit on Chychrun is the exact reason why I wanted them to trade a bounty to Arizona. I had multiple threads offering 1sts and prospects for Chychrun not a single one for Ek65 because it makes little sense.. An idea is fine but you still need to make it practical.
Wanting to go all in is the correct response but this isnt basketball, they need depth. They can dump their bad money without having to take on more bad money in EK65

Chychrun is also 24/25 and is much more long term option.
I agree Karlsson might not be wise but he could be a key piece for a run or two

Chychrun though had a 2 year deal at an affordable rate so he was more or less a 2 year option as the likelihood they could sign him or he'd want to sign wasnt great.
