Description
People who say the caps aren’t good enough to make the playoffs are wrong. They r good, they can beat good teams, they can dominate for periods of time(December) but I think during times like this they just don’t seem to be motivated, would be my guess because they are good enough they actually have more of their best players back since December but they r not winning. They just need to put the right youth with vets and win. I mean why did they call up McIlrath when they should be putting Alexeyev in the lineup. Why is Alexeyev a healthy scratch for so long he is a young prospect who should have a spot and he doesn’t gain anything from being scratched the whole year, I would rather him than Irwin and definitely not McIlrath I like this team below the only thing I would switch is if this doesn’t get Mantha going after his injury or he stays injured I would put Snively in that spot since they signed him to a 2 year one way contract and then decided not to play him, he was good when he was in and he really clicked on that line with Oshie and Strome. I think at the deadline they dump Eller if they need cap space and/or they could trade Mantha if they can get something good for him but we’ll see. I think Mantha is a good player with his confidence destroyed

I am on the same side as you. I think this team is very overlooked, they just struggle to stay focused/motivated. They can hang with anyone in the league, including Boston, excluding Carolina. I think Mantha is the piece they should be trying to move. His contract is limiting the positive possibilities this team could add at this years deadline. This team could look drastically different next season, or they could run it back with a lot of the same players deciding to return. I think they are a bigger threat than people realize. Regular season, no, but playoff caps yes. Do I think this is a year that works out for them? No I don't think so. If they draw Boston or Carolina in the first round, while I could see them taking the Bruins or Canes to 7 if they play great, I don't see any way in hell that either the Bruins or the Canes find a way to lose those series. I think the only playoff hopes they have is if New Jersey wins the Metro. They could beat New Jersey and if they get out the first round then, who knows, it could all be up in the air.

Caps are a very good team... when healthy. They simply aren't healthy enough and they are now at 11.5% to make the playoffs. Hill is too big. Just sell, retool, and come back younger and bettter next season.

Good point, when they r in the playoffs they show how good they really are, they play really well in the playoffs. I think hitting the post on the empty net in game 4 last year killed them if they scored that I think they would have won the series
