The 23 first is ideal and I'm not saying yes or no to the trade (I'm really bad at the value of prospects from other teams) but the Leafs can't trade what they don't have and they gave up their 23 first in the O'Reilly trade a few hours before this was posted.

The only insight I have into the value of the prospects is that Niemela was ranked 142nd of players/prospects under 23 by the Athletic last month (middle of the lineup player) and Knies was ranked 59th (top of the lineup player).

I mean they gave up a ton for orielly and I’m not convinced Knies is all he’s hyped up to be. Niemela has taken a step back this year too
