Description
Who should they target on defence in free agency, the draft, or through trades?
Do they deal one of Boeser, Garland, or Beauvillier in the offseason?
What's the plan with Raty and Hoglander?

Détails additionnels:
Trade rumours around Luke Schenn have ramped up as the trade deadline approaches. According to media sources, Allvin and the Canucks are surprised with how much interest there has been in Luke Schenn. But this doesn't surprise me at all. Schenn is a guy making 850k against the cap as a right shot, physical D man. His contract ends at the end of the season making him an ideal rental target for added blue line depth. Among the teams interested are Boston and Calgary and the price is a third round pick + or a second according to Drance. The only problem holding up a trade is Schenn's wife who is currently pregnant and due in the coming weeks.

Whether it's Boston, Calgary, or someone else, I'll put the value at a third round pick to start.

Tyler Myers likely gets dealt in the offseason with some retention. The Canucks still believe that Myers has positive value despite how bad he is. But realistically I don't see Myers bringing anything back. This is again just for the framework

I think your Myers trade is realistic since he only has $1m in salary owed after his signing bonus is paid next season.

I'd rather not trade Schenn. And don't really want Bear on the team either, as he is ok but not a solution for this team at that cap hit.

At forward, trade Boeser and Garland. Keep Beauvillier and Hoglander. Sign a trustworthy 3C such as Compher or F Gaudreau, to help Raty develop. Also sign some physical veteran bottom 6 guys that can PK such as Hathaway and Acciari.

On D sign UFAs Gavrikov 5m, Mayfield 3.5m, Schenn 1.5m, van Riemsdyk 1.2m. Offer sheet C Foote 1.35m.

      Team something like this:

      Beauvillier Pettersson Kuzmenko
      Podkolzin Miller Mikheyev
      Raty Compher Hoglander
      Hathaway Acciari Lazar
      (Joshua)

      Hughes Mayfield
      Gavrikov Schenn
      OEL TVR
      (Stillman Foote)

I really like the look of that bottom six, but I do think that Ethan Bear has been a tremendous acquisition and a good fit for this team going forward. Getting a guy like Bear, who still has the potential and the years to break out before his prime, on a relatively cheap deal with term is an investment I am willing to take for the team. I project a Siegenthaler like emergence from Bear under Foote and Gonchar, especially playing alongside Hughes. He looks like a good one. I still think that it would be best not to trade Schenn, but I do think we need a RHD for the next 4 years until Reinbacher or Sandin Pellikka are ready. It would be foolish for us not to take one of them with one of our firsts.

We would have the cap space to keep Bear with that lineup, but I just can't see him becoming a real top 4 Dman. He is not really a shutdown D, not really a puckmoving D, not really physical presence, etc. But I guess if we have the cap space, then no need to let him go
