Premised on a major deal with the NJD that trades Zacha and the #1 (plus the cap weight of Clowe, a non-performing player) for 5 current NHLers and up to three draft picks, including #25 in 2017. If NJD are not competitive, Plekanec would fetch a second-round pick or prospect at the trade deadline next year.

Assumes Tampa can't afford to match a major offer sheet for Drouin and would take the picks. The Bolts have $17M available for 9 players, including Johnson, Palat and Sustr. If Bolts match on Drouin, make similar offer to Palat.

Assumes the #1 (Nolan Patrick or Nico Hischier) won't be ready for 2017-18, so opens the vault to Joe Thornton for 1 year to steady the organization up the middle. But the deal leaves room next year to sign MaxPac and Danault.

And adds Cogliano's speed and experience to help with the PK and checking..

All the while, this deal leaves $2.5M+ to top up Price next season and an additional $3M (reaching $12M) next year.
