I believe this is all very realistic, and what this organization should do, but I'm sure David Poile will disagree with me.
Trade Explanations:
Niederreiter to BOS:
- BOS loves it because they get a 2nd line winger guy for a cheap $2,000,000 cap hit this year and next.
Ekholm to NYR
- I'm not sure how interested NYR are in Ekholm because his contract restricts their ability to go after another big trade target. But Ekholm would absolutely help them go on a playoff run.
Puljujarvi from EDM:
- EDM clears his contract for other moves, get an early 3rd rounder in return. They get Jankowski to fill out their bottom 6. From what I've read I don't think Puljujarvi's trade value is any higher than what I offered them.
Off season re-signs:
Cody Glass - 2 x 2,500,000
Tanner Jeannot - 1 x 1,500,000 (Don't think he signs a multi year deal coming off a bad season)
Yakov Trenin - 4 x 2,000,000
Dante Fabbro - 3 x 3,500,000 (I know half of Preds fans will hate that but I love Fabbro)
Alexander Carrier - 2 x 1,750,000
Jesse Puljujarvi - 1 x 2,000,000 (1 year "prove yourself" type of contract)
Vitali Kravstov - 1 x 1,000,000
Cole Smith - GOODBYE
Kevin Lankinen - Love him, but also goodbye

Détails additionnels:
2024 4th becomes 2024 3rd if Boston wins the Stanley Cup in 2023 or 2024 with Niederreiter under contract
I don't know if NYR is the right partner for Ekholm. Miller and Lindgren are already on the left side, plus the cap hit. Overall, I like the idea of selling and retooling, but I don't expect Poile to do it.
