High return? It's basically a 1st and a 2nd. That isn't enough to acquire McCabe with 50% retention for not only the rest of this year but for 2 more full years. UFA Kerfoot isn't worth much, especially not to a rebuilding team. If they have any interest in Kerfoot at all they can just wait until he's UFA this summer and make him an offer then.

McCabe is not getting a first in return….unless there is retention. 2nd & a 3rd; MAYBE 2 seconds in value as is. Thus the other picks and first shot at resigning Kerfoot are worth the retention. Kerfoot is a solid player, but in CHI will be a middle 6 player. CHI is not going to be a cap ceiling team going forwards for a while, so the $ won’t be an issue.

And this proposal has McCabe at 50% retention... For the rest of this year and the 2 years left on his contact. Kerfoot has no value to Chicago he's just a cap dump to make the money work.
