His shooting percentage is actually quite high even in past seasons, he's a really good finisher - he'll maintain a 30-35 goal pace for the next 4-5 years. He's maintained 30+ for the last 3 years already.

And he hasnt returned.

Yeah, his shooting percentage is that much higher this year but even if it rescinds to what it was for the previous 2 seasons he will still score +30 goals. I don't think you're appreciating his development as a player into a bumper PP specialist and an excellent finisher by either shooting or redirecting pucks.

A 30-goal center is a 1st line center on MOST teams. Perhaps not a contending team but he's definitely better than the 2C label that's thrown at him.

his xG is 18 right now. I would be more willing to be that he regresses in the future than maintaining this pace based on his shooting percentage and expected rates. With that it probably isnt worth the high AAV and assets.

Again, you're missing the point that he shoots above his expected goals all the time BECAUSE he is an ELITE finisher. I understand your concern because looking at the advanced stats it looks like he's overperforming/getting lucky bounces. I assure you, he is a statistical outlier in the advanced stats category.
