I don't disagree that the Leafs should swing for the fences this year, but I think that Chychrun package isn't worth it to the Leafs. Sandin is a great young D now and is signed through next year at less than half of Chychrun's cap, and probably makes around the same after. Knies is probably in the show next year and has a skill set that compliments Matthews, Marner, and Tavares' game.

I don't know enough about Timo Meier but from his point totals I think it'll take more than that package to get him with retention.

I wasn't 100% sure about the value of Meier, he puts up a lot of points but i think his $9+ million qualifying offer next year would force a lot of playoff teams to view him more as a UFA than a RFA. I would love to see him in the leafs top 6 this playoffs.

You are probably spot on regarding Chychrun tho, hes an upgrade on Sandin but a steep price to pay
