Description
Not sure on nashvilles desire to part with tanner. But if he’s available, I think he’s exactly what Leaf’s need. Might need to add more to the deal to make it happen.

Well you haven't been watching the Leafs if you think that is the lineup. Holmberg has been playing well at centre and Jarnkrok looks like he is a second line LWer.
So who does Jeannot replace the makes the Leafs better....ZAR? Knies (who isn't a Leaf yet). Hunt (yes that would be improvement) Still seems pretty pricey to me for a 3rd at best but more a 4th liner.

Who he replaces depends mostly on the opponent come playoff time. If you get Tampa in round one, perhaps size and toughness would be better suited on the third line, to counter The heavy style Tampa’s bottom six like to play. Or maybe he’s top six to try and wear down the opponents big guns.

While players like holmberg and hunt have been nice additions, I don’t think that they are going to nor should be expected to be an impact player in the playoffs this season. Unless someone gets hurt.

The Leafs have been ousted in round one for a bunch of reasons. Inexperience and lack of depth and team toughness being the main areas of concern. They have the experience this year, (I mean, they have figured a multitude of ways to lose, it’s time to win for a change).

Jeannot, or someone with a similar style of play, would provide depth and toughness; whether he is playing a bottom six role, or moving up into a top six, depending on the opponent and/or if Knies can be an impact player.

Maybe they do have the horses to get it done this year, without making any big trades. I hope so. I would prefer to see a team play together all season and win together. But as a Leaf fan of 40 years, I also know that the first 82 games don’t really matter. I really think they need to add a little more toughness. And not just fighting. Hard on pucks. Finishing checks. Face wash Opponents after every whistle. Be the instigator of intimidation instead of reacting to it. That is what will put this team over the top. They have the top end talent. Only need is that one guy that will help create the space for the superstars to do their thing and maybe throw in a big goal here and there.

And in the playoffs, they all make the same of money. So who cares if you have $3.5M contract on the 4th line.

impact player.

Jeannot play this season and his two playoff rounds have been underwhelming. He doesn't scare anyone and his on ice play is more a liability.
