I would take Zaitsev over Savard one-for-one because he has shorter term on his contract. To think that the difference between the value of Zaitsev and Savard is a 2023 first and second is absolutely bonkers.

I can’t see Ottawa needing Savard. JBD is literally a shot blocking machine and can play at least 3RD for cheap. If anything they need a similar player to Zub or upgrade on JBD

If Dorion is looking for defensive help, Savard would be an upgrade over any Sens RHD except Zub.

Sending Zaitsev for Savard clear 1M to help sign DeBrincat. Instead of giving a high pick just to dump Zaitsev as rumored, you'd be getting RHD help. That's a win-win.
