I would hate to have to play against Meier this often but the value isn’t far off. any chance we could add a younger D? maybe instead of Toffoli even?

I think that we could include a young D, like Mackey. But Toffoli or similar contract would need to be added to balance out cap hits.

Sending out Toffoli, our top goal scorer, for a rental and somone who hasn't played this year doesn't make much sense to me.

After making this proposal I looked into Duclairs status, and realized he was further out on his recovery than I thought. So no it doesn’t really make sense.
Also it was more of an in theory trade. I don’t know how much of an upgrade Meier is over Toffoli at this time, I don’t know if it’s worth messing with chemistry that is finally starting to click. And the second part of this is that Meier could not be a rental, they would have to resign him for it to make sense.

There's almost no way to afford Meier, Lindholm and Hanifin, might be able to clear the books enough to keep him but thats really digging a hole. Guys usually don't want to stay in Calgary, you gotta assume he's a rental or we pay his QO to keep him.
