What will it take to get Timo Meier? If the sharks decide to make him available I think he will be extremely popular as a trade deadline target, resulting in a large biding war and a Brand Hagel + type of package (2 firsts). My guess is that the sharks will want one young player or prospect and a first. The best prospects the leafs have to offer are Robertsonand Knies, but I think the sharks will be more interested in one of Sandin or Liljegren, seeing their lack of anything on the back end. Would the leafs survive the loss of one of these guys? It mostly depends on Muzzin's availability come playoff time but I do think they could survive with weaker bottom pair. The Leafs would still have Gio, Reilly, Brodie, One of Liljegren or Sandin, and you can make a bottom pair out of any of a healthy Muzzin, Holl, Benn, Timmins or Mete. Also could inquire on a depth D Man. Whether the Leafs extend Meier or not depends on how much the cap jumps up and how he performs. If he does extend I assume it will come in around 8x8 but the leafs could also choose to trade his RFA rights around the draft for a decent package (Maybe a second?)
