Big moves with Muzz on LTIR

Créé par: tcrowell01
Équipe: 2022-23 Maple Leafs de Toronto

Description
Trade breakdowns:
-Holl to VAN, could be any team, but given Miller’s extension and his reported issues with Horvat and Schenn, both could be on the move and Holl could fill the Schenn hole and help them tank for Bedard.

-Kane to the Leafs is a long shot, not sure if the payment is too much or too little, but the Leafs have a lot of pieces that could make it work if more is needed as they’re in a win now mode and should be all in on the best available player.

-Bringing Chychrun in fills the hole left with Muzzin on LTIR and possibly out for the whole season. Similar to the Kane trade, not sure if this would be enough, but Leafs have enough assets to add to make it happen.

Obviously if Muzzin isn’t out the whole year and is able to return, likely none of these moves happen, it’s all hypothetical obviously, just having fun :)

Kane 1/2 retained = 2023 1st + Robertson or Knies plus any cap dumps you want the Hawks to take on (Engvall, Kerfoot or Holl)

You may be right, instead of a 2023 1st and an A prospect, I figured a 2023 1st, 2023 3rd and two B prospects may be enough to make it worth it, as you can see Toronto still has over $1M in cap in this scenario, so may be able to lessen the amount retained, but it’s all hypothetical in the end lol

1) Those aren't A prospects despite being the Leafs best prospects. Button, Pronman and Wheeler all didn't have either of those guys in the top 50 NHL prospect list released just prior to the season which IMO are what A prospects are.
2) Quantity won't equate to quality.
3) Cap is prorated against games played, so in this scenario, the Leafs will be fine as long as an acquisition is made December or later
4) Yes, all in good fun and long shot as you said smile

That’s totally fair. I appreciate your input. Honestly, I’m not super up to date on prospect pools aside from Torontos, but I know that both Knies and Robertson have potential to be elite players during their careers and that’s more what I was eluding to as an “A” prospect, while I don’t think there’s as much upside to Abramov and Kokkonen, I do think both have potential to be NHL caliber players, along with possibly another NHL caliber player with the 3rd round pick, so in my mind it evened out not adding Robertson/Knies to the trade. Just wanted to explain where I was coming from there lol but as I said you made excellent points, and I appreciate the input! smile
ChiHawk a aimé ceci.
