Seeing if I can break the record for highest average team age

Actually wouldn't mind seeing Toews brought in to be the 3rd line center or play top 6 if there are injuries. He kills penalties, wins faceoffs and has been a proven scorer for years. Has a ton of playoff and winning experience and shouldn't cost a ton with the bloated salary and down year last year. If there is a way to fit him onto this team, I think the Pens should try and do it.

      Early days right now, but if Toews keeps playing as well as he has so far (small sample size alert, but he seems healthy and in shape unlike last year), then something tells me he might not be cheap. That being said, he also has a full NTC.

      I'd imagine the high water mark for a deal for him would be a Giroux-type return, but he could also handcuff their return with his NTC.

      I could see that, but it would require a lot of things to go right for the hawks. Even still, Giroux was a year younger than Toews would be, has had better past production and still got packaged with a former 1st rounder, former fourth rounder and a 5th.
