It's probably a fair deal. Don't know if the Leafs would do it though. Leafs are weak at LW scoring wise and think they need JVR at least for one more season till he hits UFA. Leafs can still use their cap space if they have to to fill the positions that Hunwick and Polak filled last year.

Strongly disagree. The leafs have the likes of brendan leipsic, kerby rychel and josh leivo who can fill in and score anywhere from 30-50 points. There are also options in free agency or shifting some right wingers to the left side

Hi Idris. I know I'm in the minority when I say this, but I really have doubts about Leivo, Leipsic and Rychel can be difference makers in the NHL. Leivo has had four years of pro hockey and the other two three years. They haven't been able to crack the NHL now and IMO are suspect. Maybe in a few years we will know the definite answer, That being said, I think Leivo might be player selected by Vegas.
You are correct, that if the Leafs like Vatanen and costs them JVR, they can fill his position with possible Marlies or would have the cap room to acquire a veteran scorer, if only short term. If Nylander stays on RW, Kapanen might be the guy to play top minutes at LW.

Once again Murray isn't dealing 3 years of Vatanen for a 1 year rental in James Van Riemsdyk it's not going to happen you want Vatanen and Murray ask for Kapanen it's that simple.

Boyle is going to want longer term and a bit of a pay raise to stay here. He is making exactly that amount of money currently.
