Description
- Vegas will select LB in the expansion draft.
- Chiarelli will trade a 5th round pick (via VAN) to Minnesota to talk to Hanzal and then sign him prior to July 1st
- This signing allows the Oilers to move Nuge for Faulk, the 2 way D man the Oilers need.
- Dallas is looking for immediate help and are willing to trade #3 overall to get it. Eberle and #22 for #3 And Neimi fills a need for both teams while allowing the Oilers to select either Tippett or Vilardi at #3.
- With Sekera on the shelf expect Russell to be resigned
- Odds are local boy Spencer Foo will choose Edmonton to sign with. (Future McDavid linemate). Until that happens the Oilers will have veteran Patrick Eaves up front.
- signing Jan Rutta gives the Oilers more depth at RHD.

Pretty sure Jim Nill said that he's looking for D help for #3 pick not another winger and Detroit would offer Nyquisy/Tatar+9th overall and beat that. And besides Nill wants to stay in the top 10 and Edmonton has the #22 pick no way is Nill accepting that.

I don't see Dallas doing that deal for Eberle of all people, and CAR would be stupid to trade a top pairing RHD for a 3C. It's a good start, but I don't see it happening. Maybe Benson/RNH for Faulk/Lack and Eberle to DAL for Eakin or Faksa might make more sense.

RNH is a top 6 C for sure , plus Carolina has mckeown, bean, fleury coming up through the depth charts not to mention the top 6 they already have which is filled with young talent. I think that trade makes sense.

im sorry did you just say Ryan Nugent Hopkins is a 3rd line centre? Faulk is only a top pairing dman because hes on carolina. centres win championships, not dmen

I'd be much more comfortable if Russell was on a 1-year term, even if it was for more money. But, only if he's playing on the left side.

Eaves is basically a 1-hit-wonder. I imagine that he'll get this sort of payday, but I hope it isn't the Oilers signing that contract.

      Great looking team though.

Amazing how people here think Nugent-Hopkins is trash and MacKinnon is a god. Look up their p/gm over their first four years in the league (both playing prominent roles on poor teams) and you'll see that Nugent-Hopkins averaged 60 points-per-82-games, while MacKinnon averaged 56/82. Nuge's NHL average over 6 years is 55/82, virtually identical to MacKinnon's.

Oh, and Nugent-Hopkins can play a 200-ft game - he's much better defensively than MacKinnon is.

I'm not saying that Nugent-Hopkins is the better player, just that the dispariity isn't as great as most here would have you think.

That's possible. Just going by the ideas thrown out there by Elliotte Friedman.

It's funny because I thought $3M was conservative compared to what is out there (from Stauffer, etc)

I'd prefer $3M x2 at the most but I don't think Chiarelli wants to lose him to Calgary
