You didn't have Manson coaching him though. Since the coaching change in February, Barrie was on ice for 31 GF and just 19 GA in the regular season - a team best among defensemen. In the playoffs he was on the ice for 12 GF and just 7 GA - also a team best.
In any case, Barrie has posted a positive GF% Rel for 8 of his past 9 years, the lone season in Toronto being the anomaly. So for his final 6 years in Colorado Barrie outscored the opponents at a greater rate than his teammates did. Girard has posted a positive GF% Rel in just 1 of his 5 seasons, in 2018-19.
Results matter, and Colorado is better when Girard is on the bench. Yeah, I'd rather have the guy who actually wins his minutes. So sue me.
