Description

With the Monahan trade things don't look great on Prices return given the cap. Byron is also likely going to be stuck on LTIR. Drouin's health is also pretty unknown at this point. Even if Dvo and Drouin are on the roster the cap still fits so both could be on the opening roster come October

IF CGY is giving up a 1st its to take 0 contract back
Otherwise there's no leverage in them dealing Monahan

Also Price isnt on LTIR , Drouin has been confirmed for camp at his ball hockey tournament appearance for the kids but Byron likely will start on LTIR you're right.
Monahan will also start on LTIR as he's not been confirmed for camp yet

Eric Engles said he here's Hughes is making a trade to accommodate
He's hearing MTL gets a 1st for Monahan now to dump the contract outright no swapping contracts.
Then MTL has the potential to RS and move him as a pending UFA at the TDL.
Plekanec's was similar in his decline but solid Bulk Faceoffs guy and even in his down year got a 2nd round pick and 2 AHL prospects(traded them for Kulak)

So if he can give away Drouin even for a 3rd or 4th now he's guaranteed a 1st round pick + another pick at the TDL
Something keeping Drouin would never yield
