Depends, this is more of a trade deadline scenario where Winnipeg isn't making the playoffs, since Ladd will be UFA. Remember Habs got Petry for a 2nd only and he's a top 4 right-handed dman. Obviously if the Jets are right in the playoff mix or they resign Ladd before then this will never happen. But yeah it might take more even at the deadline, replace Bournival with a better prospect...

I don't think that is fair value for Ladd at all. Not even close. (I like the trade cause its a steal for my beloved Habs though).

Habs got Petry for a 2nd and 4th. Lets compare Ladd with Petry.

Ladd: 2 time Stanley cup winner, averages 50-60 points a season the past 5 years, captains his team, cap friendly.
Petry: Never scored more than 25 Pts in a season (>20 points that one time) and due to the terrible team he played for never really showed his true abilities. cap friendly.

How are the two comparable? Ladd will get at the very least a 1st rounder and a prospect.

You want to trade Bounrival (a 3rd-4th liner at best), Gilbert (a 5-6 Dman) and a 2nd rounder? Because Gilbert who is UFA also has his salary going back the other way 2.8M cap hit, and the fact that Bournival if traded by himself would get maybe if your lucky a 5th rounder, this trade would be an absolute steal for the Habs. Even if they couldn't resign Ladd afterwards.

this all true but Bergeron been making some very good trades at the deadline do to teams waiting too long to unload there players and to many contenders with no cap space. He's a very smart GM
