Description
SEA has done really well to get some good young players AND target some good supporting cast players for good value.

That said they're obsession with old UFA players make no sense to me at all. Hopefully we can make this team make a little more sense.

Their obsession with committing big money to older UFA's who's windows don't align with the teams window. They can't UFA spend their way to a Cup contender and they don't have the pieces in place to do so before all these players are past their primes. I can understand having NHL vets around to support the high end young drafted talent coming in but SEA has went overboard.

So all of these moves are trying to take the older win now pieces and translate them into younger assets that better align with the team that they should be building around the draft while better accomplishing the goals above.

There is likely a lot of refinement to be done here but for a first rough glance thats the idea.

Hoglander is the point of the deal. The other 2 players are cap dumps VAN wants to get rid of and hold no value to SEA outside of helping VAN enough with their issues to get a young player VAN has too many of

Martinez and Donskoi are cap dumps too you know, and VAN doesn't have too many young players

Van has far too many wingers atm, even if not all of them are young.

I view both of those players as upgrades on the 2 coming back, as well as saving Van about 3m in cap space this year and about 5m+ next season.

If you disagree then thats totally fine. There are a lot of similarly themed trades with other teams.

Martinez and Donskoi aren't upgrades on Myers and Dickinson. Take out Hoglander or there is no trade to be had

This post is redundant. You've already made your stance which is noted. Hence the last line of the post you're referring too

Sounded to me like you were annoyed that I came up with a rationalization of why the Canucks don't do the trade you suggested they do and you ran out of counter arguments

Canucks will still never agree to your trade proposal involving them
