- Nashville has been rumoured to be interested in Miller. The price is steep giving up a young forward and a top 4 dman but with the Forsberg re-signing and the McDonagh trade it’s clear Nashville is in win now mode. Miller instantly makes the team better, and with Schenn’s value at an all time high you’ve got to sell and hope Nashville sees him as a semi viable top four option. Dante Fabbro provides the Canucks with a right defence man fitting their targeted age range. Tomasino gives the Canucks more flexibility at forward, potentially being able to fill Conor Garland’s role in the event of a trade
- Florida’s right side is atrocious, and with a lacklustre free agent crop Myers at a reduced price may be a solid option. They send back Hornqvist to make the cap work, with the second round pick being compensation for the money Vancouver retains for the final two years of Myers deal
- Poolman makes zero sense on this roster, he’s the ninth best defence man in the organization. Although I feel Dickinson could bounce back with the right opportunity, that opportunity is not in Vancouver - there’s nowhere for him on this roster. You essentially pay a 2nd round pick per player (3+Dipietro=2) to offload their deals. With the remaining term of both players it may be a little light of a payment, so could easily see Arizona demanding more
- Locking up Subban on a one year deal is zero risk. If it works out, then great. If not well at least he’s gone after a year

This is a team that can compete for a playoff spot without the fear of losing JT Miller for nothing come free agency
