Terrible trade for the Canucks by trading for Gostisbehere and giving away Garland. We don’t need another LD who plays the same role as OEL. We need a RD. Also Garland is a gem, he is a great player not sure why Nucks fans want to give him up. He will bounce back next season under Bruce.

So basically we pay a first round pick for an offensive d man that is only good when played in offensive situations when we already have Hughes, OEL, and Rathbone who are all offensive minded d men. The very last thing we need is an offensive LHD. Especially not at the cost of a first round pick

Not needing Gostisbehere is one thing but not thinking it could cost a first (it would definitely be protected) is ridiculous. In every cap dump trade teams are willing to give up a 2nd round pick. In this situation, Poolman has three more years remaining and Dickinson has two more. Arizona is saving Vancouver over $5.1M annually and giving them Gostisbehere in the trade. A first-round pick would have to be the cost to do so.

Canucks aren’t trading a first simply because a guy is worth a first… it’s pretty simple logic. The 2023 draft is stacked top to bottom. Gostibehere isn’t a player that is going to make us better. There is a reason that he was packaged with picks as a cap dump last year
