Description

Calgary only has 3 players signed past 2025: Coleman, Anderson, and Markstrom. Given that Cap Space is at a premium, it makes sense to rebuild in 1-2 years. Not a lot of teams can take on additional Cap space (look at the Columbus and Vegas trades). Calgary could still have $4,448,334 in Cap space and if the team is out of a playoff position by TD day, they sell their assets and take on whatever contracts needed for picks. IF not, then they have the flexibility to sign or resign players next off season. I didnt put either of the Tanev's on LTIR.

Tanev and Monahan are both on IR. Monhan's contract expires next year, whereas Tanev has 3. Both are underperforming their contracts. Valimaki and Fleury are just a swap of LD/RD and Valimaki is ready to step into the line up. Perhaps a late rounder goes either way (depending on your thoughts), but the trade is primarily AAV for Term.

What are you talking about? Chris Tanev is injured which is why he is on IR, not LTIR. I traded for Brandon Tanev, who, coincidentally, is also injured right now.
