If they don’t. They get a first, prospect and two one year rentals for 8 years of Tkachuk. Pick is lottery protected and and Calgary adds a 2025 4th reported

Flames also have the ability to just sell Hubs (he's probably walking in UFA) at the deadline anyways. Can retain 50% on him etc. This trade will evolve even more one sided for them for next off season. You imagine 50% retained Hubs is worth at least 2 first rounders, or equal. They have the ability to flip Weegar too. Got a decent prospect in Schwindt, and a 1st in 2025 (sure it's 3 drafts from now, but they have the ability to keep that for if they feel they need to retool)

Yeah your totally right, they have nails it so much great return for Flames and if they can't sign both UFA they could send them at deadline and get pretty good return.

I'm suprise that Floride trade Huberdeau away, they probably didn't see them able to sign long-term with him that why they move up ?

Definitely talked to Hubs about an extension, and given they traded him in this trade it's likely he was asking Panarin money. (even while being in Florida) So likely the cats don't want to dish out 11m+ on an 8 year term. So get someone who wants to sign cheaper with term.

I'm starting to be distrustful about 10m+ contract as we can see by multiple exemple, it's hurt more the team in long run.

For exemple Leaf have 3 player at 10m+ and they're having lower quality support around in consequence.

Other exemple with MTL, having Price at 10m contract make it they're missing around 3m to be able to resign Dach and add a potential RHD veterans to help youngsters progress.

The fact the cap salary space is not moving for maybe two years again that don't help to play around the mass salary on overall.

Definitely. Florida already is in this problem. They also don't have the assets really to move out any serious money. What happens when they need to sign Lundell, Knight, Luostarinen, Duclair, Reinhart, Montour, and Forsling all need to get paid in 1-2 years. That will start to look pretty bad. Either no assets to draft players, or the players you draft you have to move to get rid of bad contracts.
