What's the real point of the Pastrnak/Nylander trade? You're not going to get rid of Beleskey for a late round pick. You're adding to him to get him off the team. Unless things change, Boston seems pretty determined to get him back on track as well. Not sure they'll be able to move him and not sure the team wants to move him. I don't understand the Vatrano for a 3rd at all. You're trading a player who has shown he can, at worst, be a bottom 9 player for an unknown 3rd rounder in the weakest draft in a while? You trade for Miles Wood and send him to the minors? He's NHL ready. I don't think Jersey does that deal though.

I wanted to see what it would take for me to get rid of Pasta and the only trade I would take that was realistic was Nylander. The age is just about the same and skill level. I actually believe Nylander is more skilled than Pata, and believe me i love me some Pasta. It doesnt hurt that Nylander is still under control and you dont have to back up the trucks until Chara is off the books and you have a cheap young D taking his place (like Zoboril and Lauzon).

I traded Vatrano because i rather see Kuraly on that 3rd line and Schaller on the 4th. He's not good enough to play on that second line yet (if he ever will be). I rather see them get someone that can play that second line. Maybe its not Bonino but its definitely not Vatrano. Also you're correct on 2017 3rd round pick. Maybe do a conditional 3rd rounder in 2018? But I also believe our view on his worth is not the same around the league i.e. Spooner.

As far as Beleskey. I think he's being undervalued. I believe that he could go to a team and be that solid 3rd line 30 point guy. He did have a down year but a GM with young talent wouldn't mind a third line checker. I don't believe that you have to give something up to unload him. Maybe if i put Hayes in that spot and buried Beleskey, you'd agree?

I would love to see Miles Wood and i think he doesn't stay down there long. Just the way Kuraly played in the playoffs earned him a spot for atleast the start of the year.

Vancouver doesn't need an aging Beleskey unless you want to pay for him to be moved... he doesn't fit in with the idea of a "rebuild"

Why on earth would TOR take a huge risk and let Nylander go? Imo TOR is building a dynasty similar to that of Hawks' and Nylander is in the core of that.

From a Devils perspective Wood for Spooner is interesting. I don't think they'd have any interest in Mcquaid or Suban though. Would probably be either straight up 1 for 1 or maybe add some picks. Wood is really young and already a fan favorite though so they might be hesitant to move him, but it's also a wing for a center so maybe. But then also most of the Devils prospects are centers and they're getting another in Nico or Nolan so they might feel full there. It's a fair trade but can't till if they'd go for it. Really interesting though

Probably because there are not many logical reasons why you'd trade a 20yr old top 10 goal scorer
