I know Tkachuk is special but why would you possibly trade Rantanen, who is fairly equal and already has chemistry with the rest of the Avs. This makes no sense.

Tkachuk would bring so much more intangibles during playoff runs. Rantanan puts up numbers, but he can't battle in a corner without falling down. Guys like Landeskog, Kadri, Lehkonen & Nichushkin (Wilson, Oshie, Marchand, OReilly to name a few others) with grit to win a cup. Imagine having a top 6 with everyone that can dominate with skill and grit. They can adjust to play any style they need to win.
