That does not scream "washed up and old". Wheels is still a top line fwd and is E A S I L Y better than Kapanen, Rust and Rakell.


Kapanen is a bordeline AHLer so I'm not even going to argue that. But Wheeler provides little to no value at 5v5 and I don't care about his point totals when he spends a lot of time playing alongside Connor and Scheifele. Rakell and Rust are better than him just from an ability perspective at this point, after factoring in contracts, it's not even close.

I'd like to wonder what Connor's production would be like without Wheeler making plays for him...

Rakell is an exceptionally skilled player but my god he is not a quality producer. To even say he is better than Wheels makes me question a few things with you.

The trade was not about culture change. The return is a good comparison of two old players still playing well. Burns got less than the proposed trade because he's a little older with one more year.
