Montreal has no need for a left defenceman. They have Edmundson, Harris, Matheson, Guhle, Norlinder, Xhekaj and Schueneman all down the left side under contract.

They are also not retaining salary. Not happening

You are overvaluing Domi and Dvorak and undervaluing Kampf

The retention slots are so valuable for CHI particularly with Toews and Kane potentially taking up 2 spots that we probably won't be in the market to look at moves like this until the TDL. Value is okay except I would think KD would be targeting picks in the 23' draft.

Yeah but with the pro rata salary come TDL, Kane @ ~$2m is a bargain. Kane is worth his salary but getting him with 50% retained is going to increase the value.
