Barbashev isn’t the difference. The point has been made by ecupirate07. Necas had a down year, Skjei could easily be moved for 2 first round assets. That right there is more than what DeBrincat returned the Hawks. For Tarasenko, a first and a good prospect is probable what you are looking at, and I would point to the Fiala trade as a comparable. I would argue a little less than Fiala, as the situation with Tarasenko in St. Louis is tender at best, and he wants out. Not to mention his injury history as well.

If tarasenko came with a 4 year extension at 4 mil (he’d never do that) the canes accept.
