I would not be so fast to say that.

Coyotes need players, and free agents are likely not going there because of the Rink situation.
So adding 2 NHL roster spots with Zaitsev and Brown that can mentor the young players.
Gus is a great backup or 1B
Then two good prospects. Thompson is NHL-ready and Jarvinte is probably next season.
So not a bad return. I did an ACGM which had brown Zaistev and next years 1st, but I can see that the yotes would probably value bodies more than picks after yesterday.

Plus they can easily retain and flip brown at the deadline for a 1st rounder

More than likely if they can't resign him, which would likely be the case as I think he wants to be on a playoff team.
