Jp signs for one year to get a better deal next offseason not going go to just give him away that's just foolish. Keith is on ltir because of retirement. Kass can get moved but its not nessasiry to make that move as seen here. Barrie I think it's absolutely stupid to even think of moving if Keith retires even if he doesn't I dont it's a slam dunk he gets moved after one year of a three year extension and was one of the better d on the team threw playoffs.

Jp is going to be traded, just a matter of time. Keith has basically already said that he isn't retiring, and that Barrie contract is terrible and we need better depth, trade him for a depth piece and a pick and let the rookies play on defense (Broberg and Niem), and move Kulak to RD. Also I don't think Talbot is the solution for our goaltending issue

I shouldn't say terrible, it's just bad considering his play

Barrie could get a low pick I'm sure. RHD are always in demand. They would be moving his cap hit more than anything. The McDonagh return certainly didnt help his value on the market tho Ryan's full NTC had a lot to do with the return but Edmonton's cap isnt unlike TB, they are desperate to move money and Holland has said over and over, big changes are coming

pulji is going to be traded because even if he agreed to sign a 1 yr deal at that price, they are not giving him regular minutes in the top 6. That is the whole dispute more than money, he thinks hes a top 6 player, coaching staff & management think he is a 3rd liner. Writing is on the wall, he's gone for sure.

Why? He didn't request a trade. Even when he did in the past he still stayed and signed it's not like the relationship with the player is tarnished its just negotiations.

It's sad because he is a top 6 player, he just needs to work on his finishing. He'll thrive somewhere else for sure.

If we are dealing with reality and not fantasy GM in a fantasy league. That is the clear indication though some here choose to live in some alternate reality where fancy stats make you untouchable. Very hard to take some ppl seriously that clearly overvalue fancy stats and stan ppl like Jfresh that enjoy triggering ppl with troll draft lists

I agree that if Keith retires then they will most likely keep Barrie... I dont think they should tho. If Keith retires AND they move Barrie, they would have plenty of money to resign Kane and a Goalie. Just need to find a cheaper RHD to play bottom pairing. I doubt they could lure him from Tampa, but Rutta would be an amazing UFA signing.

Edmonton media are also trying to run him out of town (Mark Spector), saying the people in the locker room call him a "play killer" even though they don't call him that

Keith was suppose to inform the team last week I'd he was returning or not and he asked to extended that till the 10th that tells me he doesn't know. Jp I'm not convinced gets moved we seen this story play out before and he came back. How is a trade beneficial for him? He's going to play with worse players no matter where he goes. Barrie doesn't have a terrible contract thsts just foolish to even say.

He will thrive moving to another team? Where is better for a young player to prove himself than beside Connor.

I think he is a solid young player for sure, but he still has alot to prove if he thinks he is a top 6 player who should be guaranteed top 6 minutes.

I disagree, I think Barrie needs to go, terrible at defense and we really need that cap space. We need a get a defensive defenseman to take his place, or we need to let the rookies play because they seem like they're ready.

You are missing the point, they arent going to play him with McDavid, or in the top 6 for that matter. Thats the whole problem. Him and his agent want guaranteed top 6 minutes and Management and coaching dont view him as a top 6 winger.

Think this talk of Barrie being terrible defensively is overblown drastically. He was good defensively in all 4 rounds of playoffs he played here. Very very good in some. I also see moving Barrie right now will double bouchards next contract just padding his stats on pp. It's not going to have the results people think.

All good points. I am by no means a Barrie hater, I am fine with them keeping or trading him. But if it comes down to a cap space thing and it means being able to bring back Kane and get a starting Goalie or keep Barrie... i say trade him.

I'll admit that he was better in the playoffs than in the regular season, but in the regular season he was terrible. I would rather a more consistent d-man
Also having Bouch on the powerplay will be way better than having Barrie on it. Barrie on the powerplay this season was worse than the season before

I see the team caving and giving him that guarantee. It's going to come down to that or loosing a trade.

I wouldn't make any significant changes to accommodate Kane. From what I've heard his behavior and professionalism wasn't picture perfect in Edmonton. Showed up late for a game or two which isn't something I'd hold against most players but to accommodate that much for Kane with his track record I'm listening to those red flags not investing term into something that can and likely will go bad at some point. With Leon and Connor extensions not that far down the road I think it's very very important to play it safe with the locker room. Big area I think people under estimate barrie he seems like an awesome person very good presence around the team.
