Stay the course with the young players and see if they can be the answers to the holes on the roster before selling the farm for an upgrade. Re-sign Motte to solidify the 4th line. White would be a fine 3C and has plenty of upside to be great one. Johannson could be a good bottom of the lineup pickup.
The trades:
1. it doesn't have to be the Ducks but a team like ANA makes a lot of sense. Plenty of cap and roster spots on defense, they could get him for next to nothing and flip him for more if he's serviceable.
2. Arizona parts with two of its gazillion draft picks to take a flyer on Georgiev and Gauthier.
3. Montreal also has a gazillion draft picks and they use one to take a flyer on Hajek. Gorton loved him during his time in NY so I could definitely see the Habs taking a stab at it even if the pick is lower.
