Kuemper at 5.5m isn't a steal, he's a solid goalie but if he's not going to be in the Vezina race (not necessarily a finalist) not sure you want to spend that much on him considering the Leafs cap situation.

I'm certain they are looking for a steal in goaltending to balance out the contracts allocated to the big 4.

No point in giving up so many assets for Chychrun, when you can develop your own guys, especially to play him on his offside.

Kuemper at 5.5M looks like fair market value to me

That's my point, because of their cap situation the Leafs need to get more for less.

That's probably one reason why they aren't offering Campbell 5 and Andersen wasn't secured, I think they tried to take advantage of their struggles to get a he cap hits down some.

Campbell will probably follow in Andersen's footsteps and leave. Andersen bet om himself and went to a solid defensive team-I think he was redrafted because he refused to sign with Carolina way back. Kind of funny how things turned out. I think Campbell will take a different approach though and look to maximize profits but will go to a contender or a team on the rise, I'm guessing Edmonton or New Jersey. Colorado if they don't retain Kuemper.

Sadin is a LHD which isn't a need for us, Hughes OEL and Rathbone are all going to be here long term, Robertson doesn't have the same value he once did, also is a winger which Vancouver is the most deep at, a 1st is nice how ever it's late, nothing in this package makes Vancouver bite

You realize you’re over the cap with a 20man team. Toronto has a max cap of 82,287,500 because of overages.

With the Chychrun acquisition, they wouldn't necessarily need him on the top pair right side, they could run him on the 2nd or 3rd pair but give him top pair minutes such as how TB uses Sergachev

I think it would be better to keep Sandin since if he out plays himself out of Tor, he will still be under team control. Chychrun is gone in 3 years most likely, so giving 5 pieces for him including our top non-NHL D-man who happens to be a RHD would be a mistake. If we want something like Tampa has, we will need to be Liljegren and Sandin who emerge as stars along with Reilly. Brodie and Muzzin are likely gone in 2 years or sooner, if they had Chychrun they could possibly retain him in 3 years but will be paying for it in the 2 years that Brodie and Muzzin are around.

The ask for Chychrun is 3 pieces went from (young roster player, top prospect+1st rounder) to (1st Rounder + 2 top prospects) -the first was considered a high ask by some executives while others said it was fair, Tor shouldn't try to compete with LA for him. If they can get him for one A-Prospect (who isn't Knies or Niemela)+1st+2nd+3rd, then it might be worth for the Leafs to get him.
