Are you really saying that Petry is an has-been ? But you give Gurianov for it ?

Dude Petry if you don't count this season cause it's was bad for almost all Habs player was in top 5/10 more offensive defensemen in the league for few year maybe 5 or 6.

He's in for a suprise when he realizes what the stars gave up the aquire petry

Petry was 3rd best producing defenseman at 5v5 since MSL toke over, he redeemed himself the 2nd half of the season

Gurianov has run his course in Dallas, who knows maybe he gets traded for less if the cap really boils down to needing his 2.9mil. I wouldn’t give anything for Petry let alone top prospects of first round picks like the rumors are stating but Gurianov at least removes 2.9 off the cap and makes Petry’s hit less heavy. Petry is 34 and the team already has an old AF roster, he’s only going to get older with 4 mores years that’s a big risk at over 6mil cap hit and there’s no way to get rid of him once he’s here short of buyout, already looking like Suter will fall off a cliff soon. Habs would still getting the better deal as Gurianov will likely improve and is controllable and doesn’t have a NMC. Petry is going to join the Benn, Seguin, Suter, retirement program and refuse a trade.

Doesn’t matter Stars had to sign Benn and Seguin when they did and are paying the price, they’re going to continue to be trash for the next few anyway might as well give away assets for guys that don’t matter I guess. I don’t think they should sign Klingberg either, too much unmoveable cap.

Ok explain why anyone should be happy about them going after and giving up the future for a 34 year old with 4 years left that scored less points than Ryan Suter last year. Petry was not even playing in an offensively challenged system like Dallas.

You use the perfect world: LAST YEAR
Look the 4 year BEFORE this season and you will see Petry IS productive. The first half season Petry was bad yes ! But the moment MSL have take he ****ing switch is gameplay and have what 17 pts on 22 game if I'm not wrong that ****ing good productivity.
And Petry pley better the older he gets and it's NOT 4 YEARS left but the NEXT season and TWO more year in total of 3 years at 6.250m that a good deal when your playing on a 40 to 60 points range defensemen.

If Dallas wanted to spend 6.25mil on Petry they would at least go to Klingberg and offer 4 years at 6.25mil. He probably wouldn't accept anyway. Klingberg wants a bigger deal.
Due to our lack of defensive prospects, Dallas would consider Petry but not for a prime prospect like Bourque.

Dallas would probably not pay Bourque or first round pick but they have 2 second round that could be interesting for example:
Petry for Second round Washington from Dallas and Second round Dallas with khudobin contract to balance Petry salary cap with a little something maybe a fourth or lower round pick or low prospect.
