Description
Before you all scoff too much at this roster, I am actually thinking for the following season when Tavares comes back to Long Island to form a devastating 1-2 center punch (if you will) for the Isles! With $10.9M coming off the books in NK, JC and JH plus almost $6M in space already, this is very doable for Snow, IMO. (The Hawks still will have almost no chance to sign Tavares even if jokeman wanted to. Seems to be a win-win for the NYI!

You're giving up to much to Chicago. Hamonic is better than TVR. Plus, you are giving up a younger Tavares for Toews. That plan won't work because any team that trades for him would make sure he signed an extension before making the trade.

Islanders get older, less skilled, and in a worse cap situation. Where does Garth Snow sign up?

You seem to forget who the other party is. Besides, what you suggested is tampering at the very least, not to mention illegal on its very basis. Signing a guy BEFORE he is one's property?

teams can make trades where the trade is conditional on the premise of excepting contract terms knowing they will be traded. the team a player is being traded to gives the terms they want to the team trading him. its called a Sign and Trade. it is not considered tampering or illegal by rules of the league.

I appreciate this explanation and I stand corrected. TY.

However, this team while being proposed by an armchair GM, is really published based on how Chicago's "real" GM operates. Same circumstance when Saad was traded for Anisimov . AA was to become a pending UFA (like Tavares) and was coveted by Bowman. AA was not extended for sometime after being acquired, not prior. In my scenario with Tavares, I am presuming Bowman is looking at the Isle star purely as a rental, if you will. He is trading Toews to create needed cap space for next season. This is precisely how Bowman "manages". In essence, he actually prescribes to a type of Sign and Trade, just not how you stated. He signs players, then has to trade others just to become cap compliant. (Your Leddy trade in 2014 is a prime example of this!). SB has a well established pattern of going numerous directions instead of a straight path forward. I think it is even crazier than trading seven draft picks to move up one slot like Snow wanted to do a couple of years ago.

I trust you and your cronies (posters 5&6) can now better understand my team description. Toews is acquired this summer and Tavares is signed next summer when he would become UFA.
