Tear Down - Restock the Cupboard

Description
I saw many of these trades posted in other locations on this site. The whole purpose of these deals is for the Hawks to get value on what their assets are now and to restock the prospect pool.
There is a logjam for the Hawks at defense, so most of the prospects coming back were forwards.
Getting the goalie options allows Soderblom and Commesso to have time to properly develop in the minors without getting shelled up in the NHL.
This team does not look like it will be competitive and will likely be tanking for the 2023 draft.
Toews has already soured on the idea of a large scale rebuild.
When (not IF) Debrincat gets traded, I would expect Kane to want to head out of town as well.

***I meant to say without* a pick in the 2, 4, 5, and 6 for the Toronto trade

Jets decline over 5mil for a center that struggled this year mind that a 2nd is max and only happens if scheifele is dealt but is likely on the team little regard for the other teams situation right there

Honestly some very solid trades ngl, I don’t think Jets accept just a little much for Toews and they don’t really need centers but other than that I can see all the other teams thinking about it or accepting

as an oilers fan i think this is the most fair trade i have seen created on this website. change of scenery for a few RFAs and the oilers pay extra to dump kassians cap. trade makes a lot of sense both ways.

With Jets situation they all seemed to think the locker room was pretty toxic, and Toews is a notoriously great leader with regards to that. I totally get that it isn't really a position of need for them though. I figure its his hometown plus the off-ice situation would be a great fit for him, as opposed to the on ice fit

With Kravtsov and Georgiev both wanting to get outta town and 5 mil salary retained on Kaner, I thought this would be pretty even for the Rangers to really go for it next year. Would you make any amendments to this deal or are you just out on Kane to the Rangers in any capacity?

I could see something like the Kane to the Rangers trade if Kane was willing to waive and negotiate an extension with the Rangers, so he wouldn't be a one year rental.

That is a really good point, no one wants to see their team pay up to lose a star player after one year (*cough* Claude Giroux in Florida this year *cough*). I can see him wanting to do that to be with Panarin, but unfortunately the Rangers are running into some cap trouble with a lot of people being locked down for many years on very expensive contracts, so the cap situation might be difficult to navigate that, not to mention their RFAs coming up for an extension like Laffy and Chytil. I don't see Kane signing an extension less than 5.25 million, which is what he would be costing in the half salary retained situation. But if NYR could make that work, all hockey fans would be winners to have Kane and Breadman reunited

The Rangers have no hope of signing Kane after next season, so he is a 1 year rental. Chicago can get way more for him from a team that can offer him a new contract. However, if you want to trade him at a reduced "rental" value for some reason, then fine, but not giving up a 21 year old RW named Kakko for him.

Interesting that Kakko is the dealbreaker there, wasn’t he scratched in the elimination game? If they could have just plugged in Kane at RW for Kaako there I think the game turns out a little differently as far as offensive production. With 2 more years at the Shesterkin massive bargain I think it would make sense to make a big swing at a run, but of course I understand that it would be selling a lot of the future for success now!

They have 3 more years of Shesterkin at his current cap BTW. Kakko also played in 5 other elimination games this year, so not a tragedy he missed one. The way the Rangers played games 5 and 6, having Kane would have done NOTHING. TB wore them down and 20 playoff games in 40 days was too much for them. The Rangers will be happy to keep a 21 year old Kakko and PASS on a one year Kane rental. That is a very easy decision to make.

And why trade Kane to a team that can't offer him a new contract? Don't you think a team that has the cap space to offer him another contract would GIVE MORE in trade? Doesn't that make more sense for Chicago?

Oops my bad on the Shesterkin misquote. But to say Kane would have done nothing is certainly a stretch. As a Rangers fan are you more hoping the Rangers grow their in house talent as opposed to bringing people in?

With regards to trading Kane to a team that can offer him an extension, I do not think there are many contender teams that have the freedom to throw around an 7+ million dollar extension.
