Doubt that Girard trade ever happens but it's certainly interesting. His contract is and will be incredibly good for the AVS going into the future so I doubt they move him barring a massive overpay. I also think Blackwood for Jesse is an overpay. maybe add a third from the Oilers. I personally hope that one doesn't happen either. Overall this one is interesting though and certainly isn't too unrealistic.

Colorado deal is just brutal for NJD. We would be much better off just keeping what we have than doing any of these trades.

Puljujarvi is okay, but the goal is to get Blackwood on track. That is done by getting some competition for him.

Mukhamadulkin has enormously high ceiling. I know some Devils fans just want to dump him for peanuts. It will take years, but the payoff could be huge. And on ELC for 3 more years, it will allow us to a lot more with cap.

DeBrincat would be nice, but also, to give up Holtz (3 more years of ELC) and Cooley or Slafkovsky (at least 3 years until first RFA) could be a disaster.

And for the window we are targeting, Sharangovich, Mukhamadulkin, Holtz, Cooley/Slafkovsky and Blackwood >> DeBrincat, Girard, Puljujarvi, Martinook and Campbell.

Highly recommend you listen and read all of Devils GM’s statements about plans for off-season. Few of these moves would fit what he has been talking about.

I’ve followed all of Fitzy’s comments this offseason. Let’s breakdown the moves I make here:

Adding top 6 forward: DeBrincat
Adding Size: Puljujarvi, Bjustad
Adding Goaltending: Campbell, Holtby
Adding reliable puck moving dman: rather this than giving Severson 6x6 at 28 years old. Girard is great contract

I understand where ur coming from, but ur one of the fans that keeps saying “next year.” Forgot next year, time to start winning now. Keeping Holtz and drafting Slafkovsky delays that. Even if they both pan out, they won’t reach their prime for a few years. We don’t want to waste anymore of Nico and Jacks years on building. Time to go and you have the opportunity to this year. Don’t u get tired of losing?
