I definitely wouldn't want the Rangers to give up that much for a 3C.

Ron Francis: Yeah I think we can swing that, I mean we dont want to lose Gorde because he's such a good leader and all, but I'll send the paper work over.

It’s tough whenever you’re talking about salary retention on multi year contracts so maybe overpay a little but I’d be so happy if the Rangers found a way to snag Gourde away from Seattle

A 3C that’s making 2.6 million for 3 years

You're not wrong, and I think it would take that kind of deal to get Gorde 50% retained, I just can't see the Rangers being willing to give up that much, unless they think Chytil's playoff run is a fluke and they are trying to sell high.

It's enticing, but not when you're giving up Chytil (who won't be making much more than that any time soon despite his recent uptick in production), Lundkvist (stud D prospect), Krav (stud forward prospect) and a 1st round pick. IMO it's way too much to give up for a 3C, no matter how cost controlled he is.

I dont think you can call Kravtsov a stud forward prospect any more. The other two have done well though.

Win win, Seattle gets 4 young 1st round caliber talents and Rangers get a versatile middle 6 player on a super affordable contract for 3 years. Nils has no clear spot on NYR in next 2 years, Gourde is an improvement over Chytil, Kravtsov has had his well documented issues in NY, and the 2023 1st will probably be a late 1st

I love Filda, but let’s be honest here the guy was getting healthy scratched a few months ago and has never scored more than 23 points in a season. Gourde is a massive improvement over him. Kravtsov is a depreciated asset at this point. Nils hurts to give up but has no clear spot on this roster.

To be honest I think Seattle takes the trade without the first. I almost think Lundkvist and Chytil alone get it done, or Lundkvist, the 2023 first, and Kravtsov.

The issue is the salary retention. Is Seattle willing to eat 2.5 million aav for the next 3 years for Fil and Nils. If so sign me up

13 points in 19 KHL games at 22 years old is pretty great. Background drama aside, he's got excellent value as a prospect. There's a reason Edmonton didn't trade Puljujarvi, same is happening here.

Trading Kravtsov at all is going to be a mistake imo. I agree that Gourde > Chytil but I don't want to trade a potential top 6 wing + top 4 D + 1st rd pick for an improvement at 3C. Maybe a 2C, but not a 3C.

I think so, they have the cap space, both of those players should be affordable through that time period, and they fit Seattles timeline.

Under a point a game at 22 in the KHL does not equal an NHL stud prospect.

The KHL is nothing like the NHL. It's way harder to score in that league. For example and comparison, Kirill Marchenko - consensus stud CBJ prospect, drafted the same year as Kravtsov - had 20 points in 39 games (.51 ppg pace vs. Krav's .68 ppg pace). Further to that point, only three players in the entire league scored over a point per game in the KHL this season. And they're all significantly older and more experienced.

EDIT: looks like a stud NHL prospect to me.

Take out Chytil from the Gourde deal and I think it still gets through. If Drury signs Trocheck this team is lights out.
