Description
1) Monahan dump. 6m cap space = a 2nd based on history. Depends if the league views monahan as being dusted or being able to bounce back. Would probably take less than the second but that’s a placeholder.

2) Reports Poolparty is probably out the door. Edmonton won’t want futures as much as someone playing now. Pius Suter is a good middle six option with very strong PK metrics and ~0.5 ppg on a bad team. At 1.625m he is quite the steal. Might need to eat kassian or foegele as well and drop the pick?

3) We know Carolina would love themselves a guy like bertuzzi. Especially one that is 2.375m for the year. The price probably starts at Necas +, the 1st could be negotiable for prospects or other talent. Contract is a placeholder (haven’t looked at his estimated next contract)

For ufas: if copp goes to nyr, take strome or trochek for the 4 year option to bridge the gap whilst 8oa enters the league probably year 3 and moves to 2C year 4 of the deal.

Campbell is great and the best option but you could also pick a cheaper guy to 1B ned if these moves happen as we have cap buffer before the floor.

Probably not the return Edmonton would want. Maybe necas and a 2nd for Bert a 1st seems too much.

Debatable pool vs pius, and they provide different things. Pool also has control.

Bertuzzi is better than Necas. Bertuzzi is also 28, his backs condition could feasibly age poorly in his mid thirties, and has 1 year left on his contract. That and it’s bert for Necas +.

First is a bit much w/ Necas - swap w/ a 2nd or a prospect. Can't see Soup or Copp taking 1-2 year deals.

I bumped it up because of the retention, which is fairly significant for Carolina. It being Carolina, it’s also a late 1st.

Potentially put a mid round pick going back towards Carolina?

Yeah I guess but bert isn't that expensive a target so they may not need retention to take him but it does give them flexibility. A mid round pick coming back or maybe Detroit takes Gardiner in the deal.

Bertuzzi is 27 Let's not make him a year older than he actually is.
