I have been reading some threads about Florida moving Bobrovsky. He could be moved, and I think it's realistic for Florida to take up to 3 mil in retention - still cheaper than buying him out. He would have to agree to waive.
For Sabres it's not that bad, getting bridge 1a goalie, his deal was front loaded, so he will cost less than cap hit, and if cap space would become an issue, he could be bought out from last 2 years of the deal.
On top of that Sabres take Hornquist deal to flip him to Washington, which replace Hagelin with Hornquist for 3rd pick.
Gudas is something Panthers add, since Buffalo is doing them a favour, and could really use his physicality.
Panthers clears 14 mil, they have money for Giroux, they have money for replacing Bobrovsky. They will have money to sign vets wanting to join President trophy winning team.
Rangers cant really afford to match Kakko offersheet, they cannot retaliate in the nearest future, and I would love to stick to them. Getting 2OA, who is still 21 for 2nd round pick - seems like a great deal. 2 year deal gives both sides some time to figure things out with a pressure.
I really don't know how the lines would be setup with a lot of same level winger, who are either rookies or could have breakout year.
Le salaire annuel moyen (AAV) de l'offre hostile est calculé en divisant la valeur totale du contrat par: 1. La durée totale du contrat, ou 2. Cinq ans
Who cares that they're taking 12 mill? You're getting a 2nd (Gudas' value), a 3rd (retained, Hornqvist is easily worth that), and a very good starting goalie. Your team gets dramatically better with Bob, and Gudas brings what this team is SORELY lacking. I don't get why fans here care about spending cash... there is almost no chance that this deal inhibits them cap wise whatsoever for the next 4 years. They're not in a place to spend big money on UFAs with all the young players they have
I don’t care about taking the $12mil in Cap- EXCEPT- doing so has much more value than this proposed trade brings back
What I’m saying isn’t complicated

No it's really not. You are just both drastically over value it and ignore the fact that the Sabres should look to take advantage of the situation that they're in, even if it means they're not squeezing out 110% of the value of the moves. Just because the Panthers are cap strapped and the Sabres won't be for probably 6 years (without irresponsible UFA spending), doesn't mean this isn't a very good deal.
To be clear, I'd like more too, but your ask is insane if you don't think it's worth it even if they got Lundell on top of 3 very good pieces, which they're literally* getting for free (* I mean literally unless you're actually Terry Pegula and have to cut checks to these guys).

The $$$ matters
And those pieces they’re getting are absolutely not “very good”
Taking that much Cap off a team’s hands is worth more,
Plain & simple

Yep. Agreed. Taking that much Cap off a team’s hands is worth more,
Nope, they can and should discount that fact to get better and gain assets while they are in this absurdly rare window where they are competitive and can in no way use their cap space.. did you forget that every time someone makes one of these posts, they're hypothetical? This is a good deal even if it's not perfect
Plain & simple
The money literally doesn't matter when they can't spend it. Very good starting goalie. For free. Plain and simple.

I don't consider Bobrovsky with retention a clear cap dump. He is still good goalie, but overpaid.
Florida is not attaching first or Lundell on top of that retention - I did not consider Lundell available piece and adding bunch of late round picks or C level prospect was pointless.
