One of the conditions from the Erik Karlsson trade says that the "Sens receive a 1st round pick from the Sharks (no later than 2022) if Karlsson is on an Eastern Conference roster (reserve list) during the 2018-19 season".

AKA the "Mike Hoffman" clause


1. EK65 would have to be on a team anywhere in the Eastern Conference during the 2018-2019 season


2. The Sharks' 1st round pick for 2021 was 7th overall, so they would have decided to give us their 1st round pick for 2022 instead.


3. EK65 would not have signed an extension with the Sharks and the Sharks would have kept their 2nd round pick for 2021.


4. We would have 7th and 11th overall in this year's draft.


5. We would draft Joakim Kemell at 7th overall.


6. We would draft Kemell's teammate, Brad Lambert, using the 11th overall pick that we got from the Sharks.
