Description
Would NJD make a deal surrounding these two players? Holtz has high potential, but maybe they dont feel like they have the time to wait for it to be fullfilled. Fiala offers Top line scoring right away but at a premium price. The pros is that hes still Young and that it would make perfect sense to lock him up for all his prime years. Yall understad Minnesotas perspective. A Young (high potential) scorer that could provide good scoring while on his ELC. Would line up perfectly with the dead cap.

I get the equivalencies youre trying to make but I just dont see how a young point per game forward would be moved for that. If thats all MIN is offered I bet they move other players instead of Fiala to make the cap work. In the end I think one of OTT/LAK/NJD/etc would step up with a better offer

That’s kinda my whole point, really. If he’s traded at all it’s because they can’t afford him imo, otherwise they’ll keep him because he’s that good. Not being able to pay him will depress the return.

I don’t think they’re gonna base keeping him on ghe return for him, I think they’re gonna see if they can make the cap work, and if not, trade him.

IMO a Fiala trade has to come with 5 year contract. There are so few teams that can make a deal with Minni...trading for Fiala and not sending cap back to Minni. And these are non playoff teams. Certainly they aren't given up a lottery pick for a two years of Fiala. Because so many teams are so cap strapped, Minni doesn't have many trade partners even for a very good player like Fiala
