Talk about an overpayment for Wennberg. A young top 4 potential defenseman and a 2nd for a 3C when McMichael, Protas, and Lapierre exist? Not even close to fair value.

Overpayment for Vanecek, he would likely get more around 3 if you wanted a 3 year deal from him, but he has not proven himself to be the starter in net.

Samsonov has tons of potential still, a low QO, and plenty of good games marred by defensive ineptitude. Not at all worth it to send him away for 1 year of Talbot.

Reilly would not be a large improvement to the defense, as keeping Orlov and Jensen on line 2 and going Alexeyev/Johansen-Van Riemsdyk would be about as good and you would be able to hold onto Leason.
