At 5v5 this season, Demko is 3rd in sv% and 3rd in GSAA.

Demko’s numbers this year have been cratered by the Canucks abysmal penalty kill. Ask yourself an honest question, what’s more indicative of demkos play? 3rd best 5v5 starting goalie or 20th best PK goalie?

If you honestly think that Demko isn’t a top 10, let alone top 5 goalie in the league, you’re not paying attention

Even when moving the minimum to 45 games played, those and high danger% chances are his only top 5 stats 5v5 and Vancouver also allows league average shots against, only their PK is horrible. Every top goalie passes the eye test, this is homerism

This isn't even an argument. This is a Sabres fan trying to tell VAN fans that the goalie they watch every other night isn't as good as they think... it was an odd statement to make by someone who does NOT watch that goalie play regularly (or at all).

No im telling you you only watch one goalie and try using that as an excuse to proclaim his eliteness

If you don’t think he’s top 10 please name 10 better than him. And just know none of the goalies you do name will have more goals saved above expected at 5v5 this year. And only one could have a higher save % at 5v5. But yeah he’s definitely not top 10 🙄

Shesterkin, Andersen, Saros, Vasilevsky, Kuemper, Quick, Hellebuyck, Sorokin, Markstrom, Bobrovsky

Nat stat trick has him 3rd in 5v5 sv% and GSAA for min 300 minutes.

Evolving hockey has him 2nd in 5v5 GSAx and 3rd in 5v5 save percentage minimum 20 games played this season

Evolving hockey has him 5th the league in WAR this season

No chance Quick and Bobrovsky are better, this isn’t 2015. I’ll 100% give you Vasy, Shesterkin, and Hellebuyck. There’s a good argument that he’s better than Andersen, Saros, Sorokin, and Markstrom. I’d also take him over Kuemper, but that one’s close. If Demko was on Colorado or Carolina or Tampa he’d be considered a no doubt top 3 goalie and consistent Vezina favourite, but because he’s on the Canucks and he doesn’t get as many wins and has a bad dcore in front of him (not to mention a horrendous PK) his save % is lower. His 5v5 stats show he is an elite goalie, and probably top 5 in the league
